The Developer Platforms & Experiences team is looking for a Release Engineering Manager who is willing to join a fast-paced and dynamic release engineering team that is constantly solving new and challenging problems in order to deliver our products seamlessly to our customers. We are looking for a creative, energetic Release Engineer Manager who is passionate about driving innovation in release management processes and release engineering to new levels. The position will primarily involve team administration and people management roles. The chosen candidate will be responsible for laying out Release processes, facilitating, managing, and supporting releases for PayPal, as well as making sure that changes are deployed with minimal friction to the developer and having no impact on the site.
A successful candidate must be self-motivated, have an inquiring mind, and proactive nature. This candidate must have proven experience influencing and communicating effectively across all levels of the company, from individual business users to executive management. They should have the proven ability to build relationships / partnerships and work cross-functionally to drive time sensitive deliverables, issues tracking and reporting. You will gain valuable skills in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), change management, building and deploying different types of applications, and continuous integration systems.
Define and improve existing releases, deployment processes and drive discussions within the team.
Manage releases and deployments in the distributed Environment across multiple stacks and ensure compliance with PayPal policies.
Work collaboratively and efficiently with all internal and external partners and stakeholders across multiple time zones.

Align, as well as prioritize, goals and resources across organizational initiatives.

Define and report on operational metrics such as availability, SLA adherence, disaster tolerance readiness, compliance etc.
Lead collaborations and discussions among cross-functional teams for effective solution-building or issue-resolution.
Communicate the defect root cause, resolution plan, and timeline to accounting operations, management, and other stakeholders as necessary.
You will ensure that your team is able to resolve project issues, communicate status, and coordinate activities with peer teams across geographies.
Help Investigate and resolve build, deployment, and test related issues.
Work with cross-functional teams to ensure all release milestones are met.
Assist Release Engineers with their project management planning.
Actively participate in meetings to discuss the latest platform changes and company roadmap updates.
Highlight improvements to the release process and drive discussion within the team.
12+ years of total experience with a Bachelor’s degree is required, MBA or MS preferred.
Good understanding of Production deployment, Distributed Env required.
Sound knowledge in one or more programming languages like python, Java, Go etc.
Knowledge of GIT, Jira, Jenkins preferred.
4+ years in production support role in a fast-paced industry/organization.
Experience with all aspects of personnel management including development, performance reviews, training, mentoring and disciplinary action.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across global teams
Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities to deliver projects on schedule
Strong problem solving and operational process skills and attention to detail.
