The Datacenter Infrastructure Software team (DCIS) within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is passionate about driving rapid growth and resiliency of our cloud. We build applications and services that collect critical telemetry from our data centers, and drive automated actions based on machine learning and operational insights. The right candidate will be self-motivated learner, a seasoned software leader, who can help us build industry leading solutions for minimal-disruption data centers that power the cloud.
Specific responsibilities for Principal-level SDEs include:
Lead project engineers to determine solutions, timelines and design
Contribute to and ensure software is completed within planned deadlines
Provide technical leadership and mentoring for junior software engineers
Contribute to the long-term vision & strategy for DCIS including roadmaps, strategy, etc.
7 – 12 years??experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems.
Strong problem solving and software development/troubleshooting skills. Ability to ”think in code” and discuss ideas and algorithms.
Strong systems engineering skills with hand on experience and deep understanding of Unix/Linux fundamentals and constructs
Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals.
Strong knowledge and experience developing RESTful web services
Strong understanding of databases, NoSQL systems, storage and distributed persistence technologies.
Working familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures.
Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
Experience building multitenant, virtualized infrastructure a strong plus.
Experience mentoring lesssenior members of the team.
Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.
Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
