The Cosmos PM team is looking for a Program Manager to be part of Spark on Cosmos service.
Cosmos Analytics provides critical big data infrastructure for Microsoft. Our team owns its own programming language, compiler, data-aware optimizer, type system, sorting/filtering/hashing/etc. algorithms and libraries, and a distributed job manager. Almost every product and service at Microsoft uses Cosmos to understand their customers. Spark on Cosmos is bringing an integrated Azure Synapse experience to Cosmos and provides a very cost-effective and highly performing execution of Apache Spark applications in the Cosmos Big Data platform.
In this role, the program manager will work on the following aspects:
Acquire and successfully onboard our internal Microsoft Cosmos customers who want to make use of the Spark capabilities
Contribute to the overall business and technical directions of the product by bringing in the customer voices
Help improve the customer experiences around Spark on Cosmos, including collecting customer feedback, providing customer support, documentation
Coordinate with partner teams such as Azure Synapse, other Cosmos teams to enhance the Spark on Cosmos Value Proposition
Build out the tooling experiences to make Spark on Cosmos customers successful
The Program Manager is expected to be able to work in a geographically distributed team, possess good technical skills and basic knowledge in big data analytics (preferably with Apache Spark), and be a great customer advocate.
8+ years of software engineering program management experience
A bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or related discipline. MBA is a plus
Experience in Cloud Analytics platforms and Big-data technologies
Excellent technical writing and business presentation skills
Ability to communicate ideas effectively with executives and engineering teams
Thrive in fast paced, agile environments, and able to learn new areas quickly
